Intermediate Belly Dance Course

Helena's Intermediate student belly dance performance troupeWednesday 8-9pm @ Stage@Leeds, Leeds University campus, Leeds

Please note: These courses are suitable for more advanced dancers only.

As an Intermediate student you will usually have been dancing for around three years or more and already have a strong commitment to Oriental Dance. You will be expected to have a strong grounding in technique and be able to identify the key styles and rhythms of Egyptian style belly dance.

It is recommended that you take the Improver Level 2 class alongside this course, allowing you to continue to build and maintain a strong foundation of technique (discount available).

If you currently study with Helena then she will invite you to join this class once you achieve an appropriate level. If you have not previously studied with Helena then she may need to assess your technique before you begin these classes.

This class is only available as a course and cannot be attended on a drop-in basis. During the course you will cover more advanced technique and start to develop your performance and improvisational skills with critique from Helena and your fellow students. You will also learn and rehearse more advanced choreographies and develop your own to perform for the class.

You will have regular performance opportunities as part of Helena's student troupe Harissa as well as covering more advanced prop work, including veil, double veil, cane and finger cymbals. As such you will need to be prepared to invest in your own props and costuming.

You are such a lovely teacher to have…I really appreciate that you give us something to aspire to.

Karen, Intermediate Student
