Advanced Egyptian Oriental Dance Course

Helena's Intermediate student belly dance performance troupeTuesday 7:45-9:15pm @ Arch Dance Studio, Leeds

Please note: These courses are suitable for more advanced dancers only.

This series of classes provides further development for strong dancers. Participants will already have gained a strong grounding in technique and wil have a commitment to, and passion for, Oriental Dance.

Numbers in this class are kept deliberately small to allow plenty of individual attention. In order to maintain the right level within the class, entry onto this course is by invitation or audition only. This class is only available as a course though students may be able to attend on a drop in basis if the course is not fully subscribed, at a rate of £7 per 1 hr 30 min class.

During the course you will cover advanced technique, improve your musicality and interpretation and develop your performance and improvisational skills with regular critique from Helena and your fellow students. You will work on advanced choreographies, learning how to perform these in groups and how to personalise them for solo work, as well as developing and presenting your own choreographies. You will also be asked to research and present on aspects of Oriental dance.

You will have regular performance opportunities as a principle dancer in Helena's student troupe Harissa and will cover prop work including veil, double veil, cane, double cane and finger cymbals. As such you will need to be prepared to invest in your own props and costuming.

You are such a lovely teacher to have…I really appreciate that you give us something to aspire to.

Karen, Intermediate Student
